As you have probably seen, Oklahoma and Texas are suffering with extreme weather with flooding, severe thunderstorms, and tornadoes. The pattern of storms and flooding has been persistent for weeks and the pattern of stormy weather shows no signs of abating.
Join me below for more on why this may be happening.
Oklahoma and Texas are part of tornado alley and have historically seen more tornadoes than much of the rest of the country. Given the normal variability of weather patterns, we shouldn't take any specific weather events and attribute them to global climate change, however such change is likely to produce more extremes and shifts in patterns.
What do you believe is to blame for the weather extremes being seen in Oklahoma and Texas? I've chosen a few possibilities. Feel free to expound, add, and discuss. (I have added a bit of snark to this list since humor makes Fridays even better)
1. Climate change
2. Fracking
3. God's wrath against conservative politics
4. Normal weather variability
5. Government weather control, foreign or domestic
6. Nature helping Texas secede by making it an island
7. Pie/other
Answer the poll question, please. I'm curious of the results. After lurking for years, this is my first diary. Please be nice.
